How many types of dental caps are there

Classified according to the material from which they are made, we find 5 classes of dental caps or crowns.

  •  METAL DENTAL CAPS   They are very resistant but do not offer any aesthetics. They are used on wheels that are not too visible .
  •  METAL-PORCELAIN SLEEVES   They are like the previous ones, but to improve aesthetics they have a porcelain coating . In molars they work very well but in anterior teeth that are visible, it is possible that a small metal line remains just at the level of the gum .
  •  PORCELAIN CROWNS   They offer very natural results , but are less resistant than metal cases.
  •  ZIRCONIA DENTAL CAPS   They are the best combination since they combine resistance and aesthetics . Zirconia is a very resistant material but it also makes the treatment more expensive.
  •  COMPOSITE DENTAL CAPS   They are the cheapest and are a good option as a temporary treatment but in the long term they have to be replaced by another type of cover.

Of course, each of them has a different price, and here you will have to assess it according to your budget, and asking yourself the following question: What is the most important thing for you when choosing covers?
