Talion’s Abilities in New Shadow of Mordor Trailer

All sorts of Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor goodies were announced today via Warner Brothers. Monolith’s newest installment to the Lord of the Rings collection will be available on October 7th, 2014 for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

The Dark Ranger pre-order bonus for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, which will be available at all participating retailers, containing a Dark Ranger Skin, the “Test of Power Challenge Mode” and online leaderboards.

The trailer above shows how Talion obtained his Wraith powers.

The trailer begins with Talion awaking from a seemingly uneasy and unwanted sleep. Unaware of his location, Talion looks around for any sort of familiarity, hearing Wraith whispers as he asks, “Am I dead?”

When Talion realizes he is gripping the broken sword that belonged to his son, he remembers what happened and how he got to where he was. He remembers picking up the broken sword next to his son’s lifeless body as he sinks to his knees.

Talion then remembers enemies holding down his son as he begs for his father to help him.  Back in reality, Talion asks the disembodied Wraith, “how is this possible?” The voice answers “You are banished from death.” Unable to help, Talion must look on as his son and wife are both murdered in front of his eyes as promises of “being together forever soon” are made between them.

Flash-forwards in the memories show Talion being stabbed from behind by a goblin resulting in his death.  As he awakes, he asks “what has happened to me?” as he reaches for his son’s sword. The Wraith answers that a curse has bound them together; Talion asks how it is to be broken.  The only way is to find the one who casted the curse on them to begin with.

Talion then begins his journey to rid himself of the Wraith he is connected with, saying that he had to bury his son and his wife along with almost everyone he has ever known as he runs into a hoard of goblins, swords blazing.

It seems as though, no matter how many times Talion dies in the real world, the Wraith that he is connected with keeps bringing him back to life.
